From the beginning, Novation Title Company was always about more than paper-pushing. It was founded upon and created for a specific purpose: to help people accomplish their goals and achieve their dreams. The company itself is the fulfillment of a dream — that of our owner and CEO Nuria Rivera.
Recently, Nuria was featured on the cover of Mortgage Women Magazine and interviewed to discuss her role not only as a title company owner, but also as a minority and a millennial. Moving with her family to the United States from Mexico at 11 years old, Nuria persevered through many obstacles and challenges that came with assimilating into a new culture on limited funds. The American Dream within her reach, she used those challenges to fuel her ambition to become the successful business owner (and awesome boss) she is today!
A few highlights from the interview:
What made you decide to go out on your own?
“I had this big dream, and then I just felt I really wanted to create something in this world, and so that’s what made me want to launch. I finally had the guts to do it, and it’s been the best thing that I’ve ever done so far.”
What do you feel is most rewarding about having started your own business?
“I want to be empowering and an inspiration to other people, helping them learn what I’ve learned and share information to help them reach that dream and impact their life. That is why I wake up every morning…That’s the deeper meaning and real purpose behind it all.”
Can you share what some of your greatest challenges have been and how you have overcome challenges as a young female in the industry?
“One of my challenges has been finding a good balance between finding good talent and the talent that aligns with our purpose and vision. So although it’s taking me a little longer to build, I’m realizing that finding that balance is what’s more important in the long run.”
Are there other things about managing millennials that are specific to the generation or just as a whole that you’ve found to be helpful?
“There’s a lot of misconceptions. We just want there to be a meaning and a purpose behind [what we do]. We crave authenticity and [desire] flexibility…We want to live our lives now and we really want to enjoy life now, not 20 years from now.”
What piece of advice would you give to young women in the industry?
“I’ve had a coach ever since five or six years ago and recommend that highly to others. Secondly, be yourself. That’s something I would tell everybody. You, yourself, are able to accomplish whatever you want, so dream big.”

What’s next? Nuria plans to take Novation Title Insurance worldwide, expanding into California within the next year. A true American Dream story (if you ask us).
Congrats Boss!
