What’s Happening in Salt Lake: Happy Holidays!

Tis’ the season! With less than a week away until Christmas Day, the lights, festivities, and holiday cheer in Salt Lake is in full swing. With most of our shopping (hopefully) done, now is the perfect time to take a step back, put down the shopping bags and enjoy the last few moments of the holiday season with family and friends.

Whether you’re looking for a fun family outing or a night out with friends, Salt Lake is bubbling with options and offers something for everyone. From shopping and dining, to off-Broadway performances and some of the best Christmas lights in the country, get out and enjoy what’s happening in Salt Lake!

Christmas Lights at Temple Square

Visit Temple Square to see the Christmas lights every night at dusk for the entire holiday season through January 2, 2018. During the month of December there are free performances in six different venues on Temple Square, and of course the famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert attracts visitors from all over the world. Enjoy a favorite Utah tradition for locals and visitors for the past 50 years!

Christmas in Color

Utah’s biggest, brightest holiday drive-through light show is held at Salt Lake County Equestrian Park in South Jordan. Christmas in Color lights up the venue with a mile-long, drive-through light show that sharply synchronizes the choreography of 1.5 million LED lights with upbeat holiday music. Cozy up in your jammies, grab some hot cocoa and enjoy the sights of the season in the warmth of your car!

The Nutcracker at Ballet West

Another favorite Salt Lake tradition, The Nutcracker is a holiday season must! This season marks the brand new 2017 BalletWest premiere – fresh sets, dazzling special effects and new costumes meet the much celebrated choreography and music! Matinee and evening performances run December 2nd through the 30th.

City Creek Center

Don’t miss the holiday attractions at City Creek Center! You will find Santa in his lantern cottage near the Food Court, December 17th-23rd. Try the virtual line so you can shop and dine instead of waiting! Also, don’t miss the choreographed Fountain Show at the top of every hour and feature shows with holiday songs at 7 PM and 9 PM near Nordstrom.

ZooLights at Hogle Zoo

ZooLights! will be brighter and more sparkling than ever as this festive, family-fun light event returns for its 11th anniversary year. Over 200 lighted animal and holiday-themed displays will glisten in the December night as you make your way throughout Zoo grounds. Enjoy dinner in the Beastro, warm up with a cup of hot chocolate or check out the vast array of tasty treats! Runs through New Year’s Eve (closed on Christmas Day).

Grand America Holiday Window Stroll

This ‘grand’ winter holiday winter stroll showcases 14 unique, whimsical displays located at The Grand America. Each hand-crafted window display captures the imagination and the joy of the holiday season in a scavenger-hunt. Attendees will receive a map to guide their explorations, as well as a seasonal cookie at the end of the stroll. Fun fact: 18 pounds of glitter was applied by hand to create 350 whimsical pieces!

Downtown Alliance Jingle Bus

All aboard the Downtown Jingle Bus! Beginning Friday, November 24th through December 30th, downtown holiday season visitors can hop-on and off the holiday themed ride circling The Gateway, Temple Square, City Creek Center Gallivan Plaza & Capitol Theatre. Jingle Bus runs from 5 – 10 PM, 7 days a week (except Christmas Day) free of charge.

The Last Hurrah at The Gateway

Replacing Eve as Salt Lake’s premier New Year’s event, The Last Hurrah at The Gateway will celebrate the New Year with everything from Main Stage music acts, a Speakeasy Lounge, and full, interactive Gameroom. Champagne will even be served throughout the event so you can make your New Year’s toasts! Thanks to community sponsors, The Last Hurrah is a free event for all ages.

All of us at Novation Title want to thank you for a wonderful year in business and wish you a happy and healthy holiday season. Thanks for allowing us to be a part of your lives, big or small!

Welcome, 2020! We made it through the first week of the New Year and are already excited for what’s to come in this brand new decade. Anything can happen, and we have so much to create! Whether you’re a fan of long-term resolutions or prefer setting smaller, short-term goals, it feels good to start the year off with a desire to change for the better. If you know us, you know our approach at Novation Title has always been goal-centric, not only within our business but in our personal lives and out in the community. In today’s world where we are constantly connected (and distracted), it’s no wonder that we increasingly find ourselves overwhelmed mentally and physically drained. Often, the issues in everyday life are the ones that prevent us from enjoying the very same everyday life! How can we balance this out? We believe we can do better. That is why we are introducing meditation into our workspace. While meditation has been practiced for over 5,000 years, it is increasingly becoming a necessary way for us to unplug from the modern world. But what, exactly, is it? Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique — such as mindfulness — to train attention and thoughts. Mindfulness is awareness, it is a state of peace. It is being in the present moment, intentional and serene. It is the process of being aware of your thoughts while also disconnecting from them so you can connect within. Connecting within is the highest form of intelligence and results in proven mental, emotional and spiritual health benefits. Here are just a few science-based benefits of meditation: Reduces blood pressure Increases serotonin production that improves mood and behavior Improves immune system Increase in energy levels Lessens stress and anxiety Increases happiness and creativity Clarity and peace of mind Increased memory retention and recall Enhances self-awareness and self-acceptance Each one of us, regardless of gender, age or other factors, undergo daily stress and tension at some level or the other. That’s why we’re so excited to introduce #NovationMeditation into our business and we encourage others to join us this year. We can ALL benefit from improved mental and physical health in 2020. Who’s with us?!
